Please make sure you leave your e-mail address and/or phonenumber. If and when you’re over here in the beautiful rural north of the Netherlands, feel free to visit De Proeftuin. This 2-acre organic garden consists of some wooded areas, flowerbeds, a wildflower meadow, three ponds, a large kitchen garden and a small orchard. The name De Proeftuin is a sort of pun, meaning both a garden for all kinds of trials (e.g. in bio-dynamic kitchen-gardening which we practice here) AND a place where you can taste things. Literally! Visitors may take a plunge in the special ‘tasting border’ for a bite of seasonal produce (vegetables, edible flowers and herbs). Animal lovers will be delighted by our free range bantam chickens and well-behaved geese who live in their own meadow. In summer we are happy to host one or two beehives, stocked with Carnicas (honeybees) busily buzzing around. On sale at De Proeftuin: bio-dynamic seeds (vegs, herbs, flowers), various gardening gifts and bronze (!) gardening tools which are extremely hardy and beautiful. Looking forward to seeing you here! De Proeftuin is open to the public on Sunday June 13 and Sunday 20 2010 (11-17 hrs) and by special arrangement. Entrance fee € 5 which includes coffee or tea or elderflower cordial, a guided garden tour (in English) and free access to Doortje Stellwagen’s photo gallery on our premises.
